Mission
Sanku eliminates nutrient deficiencies by installing IoT-enabled fortification machines in small flour mills across Africa, automatically adding essential vitamins and minerals to flour while collecting real-time data on fortification quality and reach.
Current technology use
Sanku's technology stack centers on IoT-enabled dosifier machines installed in small flour mills, equipped with sensors that automatically measure flour flow rates and dispense precise micronutrient premix (iron, folic acid, B vitamins, zinc) while logging every dosing event. This data streams via cellular connection to cloud-based central monitoring systems where Sanku's team can track fortification quality, mill uptime, and population reach. They also have cellular enabled technology, where they can remote monitor all flour mills in real-time over the network, direct to the devices, anywhere in the world, alerting them when a machine needs to be fixed or a mill restocked with nutrients.
Public notes
Sanku partners primarily with small mill owners who become the frontline deployers of nutrition technology. The organization also works closely with governments, particularly Ministries of Health and national food safety authorities, to ensure fortification standards align with national nutrition strategies.
